Ranch Fun for All Ages

​​Summer at our Montana guest ranch is all about family. Throughout the summer season, we offer a variety of activities for all ages, with a well-rounded and robust children’s program. Broken down by ages, it allows kids of all ages - from children to teenagers - to explore the property and participate in as many activities as they’d like, all under the watchful eye of our experienced staff. Kid-specific activities include arts and crafts, water recreation, a kids’ rodeo, horseback trail rides, organized games and our Junior Wrangler Program. We’re certain your kids will fall in love with Flathead Lake Lodge as they experience Montana, learn new skills and create friendships to last a lifetime. ​

LASER TAG

Adrenaline-pumping family bonding, laser tag takes place in the forested terrain of the ranch.

SLIP ‘N SLIDE

Enjoy good old-fashioned family fun and "slide" your way into Flathead Lake on our epic slip 'n slide.

TEEN ARCHERY

Teens try their hand at archery – with instruction – at our course.

KIDS ARCHERY

The kids take over the archery course and learn the art of bow and arrows.

The perfect way to keep your kids entertained and making memories in a supervised setting.

Programs

Little Buckaroos, children ages 3 to 5, enjoy their week at Flathead Lake Lodge. Daily arts and crafts are a highlight for younger kids, as they make many fun souvenirs to take home. After the horseback trail ride groups depart, children under 6 years old are able to explore the barn and the stables, take pony rides (led by a family member and wrangler) and more. Plus, arts and crafts take place adjacent to the barn and coincides with the adult trail rides, making it easy for your kids to have safe and supervised fun while you’re off on the trails.  

In addition, Lodge staff are happy to assist sourcing additional childcare for families. All of our childcare providers attend a child safety class prior to guests arriving at the lodge.  

TRAIL RIDES 

Children ages 6-10, ‘Pokes, may ride their own horse on the mountain trails with our experienced wranglers. Daily rides are available for children and our friendly wranglers become their close friends throughout the week. 

JUNIOR WRANGLER PROGRAM 

Our Junior Wrangler Program – which is done under the watchful eye of our wranglers – is a great opportunity for children to learn the basics of how to handle and care for horses. Every day kids have opportunities to help brush, handle and care for our horses and will become a Junior Wrangler through learning from our friendly wranglers. 

ARTS, CRAFTS & GAMES  

Our staff hosts children’s activities throughout the day that are sure to keep your kids happy and entertained. Projects include tie dye, rock picture frames, jewelry making, family tree logs and more.  

Throughout the week, children attend scheduled activities in the arts and crafts room, which is adjacent to the barn. Projects are imaginative, creative and fun for children of all ages. And adults are welcome, too! Plus, we have a variety of games and activities, from scavenger hunts to kickball and animal wonders to capture the flag and a movie night just for kids. 

TEENS 

HORSEBACK TRAIL RIDES FOR TEENS  

We have daily horseback trail rides for guests who are 11-18 years old. This allows our teenage guests to get to know each other and spend time together out on the trails with our wranglers and their new friends.  

WATERSPORTS 

The lakefront is always a popular spot for teens. From here, teenagers can enjoy an array of activities, including stand-up paddleboarding, wakeboarding, water-skiing, kneeboarding, canoeing, kayaking and sailing. Plus, our waterfront staff take a safety-first approach and we have staff on-site and on the water at all times. Beyond lake activities, our heated lakeside pool is a great spot to lounge or cool down on hot afternoons.  

MOUNTAIN LASER TAG 

One of our newest activities, mountain laser tag is popular among guests of all ages, while teenagers and adults are particularly fond of it. Participants head out on our on-site mountain course where teams compete on rugged terrain as they climb in trees, hide behind boulders, lay in tall grass and find creative places to blend into the environment. Mountain laser tag tends to bring out the competitive side of folks, with many fathers and sons squaring up to see who will come back to the Main Lodge with bragging rights.
